Rationale for the various membership types
Visitors Registration Form - Issue 2.pdf
Membership QandA.html

At the Club's 2006 Annual General Meeting last October, the members present voted to adopt the current membership fee structure which has now been in place since 1st January 2007 and is working very satisfactorily. As those of you who were members at the time will remember, the 2007 Fees now incorporate the separately payable dock fees thereby eliminating the "annual bib" and the "pay as you go" systems which had previously applied.

At the same time, the number of different categories of membership was rationalised so that we now have only three types of paddling membership - Full Member (aged 18 and over), Junior Member (under 18 on 1st January of the membership year), and Family Membership (2 adults and under 18s of immediate family). We also have a Non Paddling Administrator category of membership.

In addition we have an Affiliated Group membership category which specifically caters for groups such as Universities and Scouts/Guides who may attend specific events and/or pre-arranged sessions with their group leader present, for which separate session fees are payable. If any individual paddlers from such Affiliated Groups want to attend normal Club sessions they must take out their own membership with the Club.

For a variety of reasons including Club insurance cover, the need to hold all our paddler's emergency contact details in case of accident, health & safety / fire regulations, and the fact that we no longer have a facility to collect separate session fees, everyone wishing to paddle at our Club sessions is required to be a Club Member or a Member of an Affiliated Group, as mentioned above. On a few occasions this year this requirement to be a member has led to a slight problem when competent paddlers from outside Merseyside have been visiting Liverpool for a short period and have wanted to paddle at a Club session.

To cater for such situations in future the Club has now introduced a Visitor Registration facility which will enable a competent adult canoeist (i.e. aged 18 or above) who is visiting Merseyside, to paddle with Friends of Allonby on up to four consecutive Club Sessions during their stay. They will be required to complete a short Visitors Registration Form (a copy of which can be seen on the Club Website) and pay a one-off Visitors Registration Fee of £10. If paddling at a Pool Session at Speke the prevailing Club session fee will also be payable, as for all our members.
