The Middle Weir and play-spot

The Washburn is a dam-release river in a narrow wooded valley very like Tryweryn in character.
The BCU Yorks Region management committee have put in much work and cash and re-designed the river bed to give many more interesting features. In paricular, the big weir half way down the 2.4km length has been made into a superb play spot and recently hosted the Freestyle finals of a round of the Peak Challenge. The verdict was 'Best in Britain' - a mini-Gratz!
Check out the BCU Yorks Region website for release details.
